OPEN POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position described below. As a condition of employment, employees are required to participate in the payroll direct deposit program. POSITION TITLE: FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN-PATROL OPERATIONS DIVISION



HOURS: Full time, 10-hours shifts, weekends and holidays, 24-hours operations. May be called in for emergencies or to accommodate staffing requirements.



SALARY: Starting Salary: $15.7702 per hour, Educational incentive pay: $996 for Associates Degree, $2,004 for Bachelor’s Degree, $2,496 for Master Degree. Bi-weekly pay period.

DESCRIPTION: Specialized work involving various non-emergency calls for service in response to incidents and activities including, but not limited to, non-violent non-confrontational calls for service as well as conducting non-emergency/non-priority investigation calls. Employees assigned to this classification must be able to act effectively without direct supervision and are expected to exercise discretion, caution, common sense, reasonable calmness, and self-control under adverse conditions while maintaining control of a particular situation or non-emergency call for service. Duties may involve other special assignments of similar complexity, including providing assistance to those who are unable to care for themselves. Work will be performed in uniform, on foot or in an automobile, and on any assigned shift.



REQUIREMENTS: To submit an application:

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Current, valid Florida driver’s license

• Must be a U.S. citizen

• Must be at least 21 years of age at time of employment

• Two (2) years of relevant work dealing in customer service is preferred

• Must be able to meet all physical requirements for the position

• Will be required to work any shift assigned by a supervisor, to include days, evenings, and/or nights. Assigned shifts are and will be subject to change without prior notice

• May be required to work overtime with or without prior notice

• Will be required to work in all types of inclement weather conditions, to include driving, directing traffic, answering calls for service and any other duties assigned by a supervisor or higher authority

• Be of good moral character, have no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral character, perjury or false statements

• No tattoos that depict violence, gang affiliation, illegal substance or activities



SELECTION: The most qualified applicants will be scheduled for an oral board interview with various representatives of the Sheriff's Office. Selected applicants must successfully complete the requirements of a conditional employment offer and a pre-employment background

investigation including drug test, polygraph, physical examination, and psychological evaluation.
