OPEN POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position described below.

POSITION TITLE: SENIOR PAYROLL SPECIALIST
HOURS: Full time, 8-hour shifts
BASE SALARY: Starting Salary: $20.2466 hourly. Bi-weekly pay period. Annual Education Incentive: Associates$996, Bachelor’s $2,004, Master’s $2,496. 1% above base up to 10% for prior experience.
BENEFITS: Florida State Retirement, Employer contributes up to 85% to Health, Life and Dental Care. Deferred Compensation, Flexible Spending Programs, Tuition Reimbursement, 11 Paid Holidays, 8 hours quarterly Special Event leave, and up to 8 hours quarterly sick leave incentive.
DESCRIPTION: A responsible position which involves performing all ACSO payroll functions while ensuring compliance with state and federal reporting requirements. Also responsible for preparing various general ledger accounting transactions for payroll. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Assistant Financial Officer. Performance is evaluated through observation, results obtained, oral/written reports, and appropriate employee performance appraisals.
REQUIREMENTS: To submit an application:
• High school diploma/GED Required. Associate’s degree preferred
Preferred major(s): Accounting, Business, Finance or related field
• Two (2) or more years of payroll experience
• One (1) or more years of public sector experience preferred
• Experience in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook
SELECTION: The most qualified applicants will be scheduled for an oral board interview with various representatives of the Sheriff’s Office. Selected applicants must successfully complete the requirements of a conditional employment offer and a pre-employment background investigation, polygraph, drug screen, physical & psychological examination.
