SIMEDHealth is currently looking for a Full Time Patient Financial Advocate to join our team in our Gainesville, FL office. This job will be performed on site, but portions of the work may transition to remote (work from home) once the employee is established. This is an entry level position.



The Patient Financial Advocate is responsible for providing patients with accurate estimates of healthcare costs.  The Patient Financial Advocate will receive information on what services the patient is to receive and then provide the patient with an accurate written estimated cost. The Patient Financial Advocate will provide documentation to the patient supporting the estimate and ensure receipt of acknowledgement from the patient. The Patient Financial Advocate will be responsible for tracking estimates provided to patients against actual costs incurred to ensure accuracy and in accordance with the No Surprises Act. 



Qualified candidates will have:




  • High School Diploma REQUIRED

  • Proficient with CPT coding and healthcare billing practices

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Minimum one year of medical office billing and collections PREFFERED

  • Two years of previous medical office experience REQUIRED

  • Minimum one year of previous electronic medical record (EMR) experience. PREFERRED 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, and Excel PREFERRED



The following are some of the duties which may be required of you:




  • Provide a written estimate to patient of the anticipated costs of scheduled services.

  • Utilize secure message system(s) to communicate with patients regarding their estimates and payment.

  • Utilize the EMR to receive, investigate and communicate with employees regarding anticipated patient care and estimates.

  • Accurately document and track estimates and provide comparison reports of estimates vs. actual costs

  • Run reports as requested

  • Respond to employee and patient inquiries in a timely manner

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with colleagues

  • Demonstrate professional telephone etiquette

  • Demonstrate professional written skills

  • Demonstrate proficient organizational skills

  • Demonstrate reliability, ability to work independently, and team player skills

  • Assist the Director of Accounts Receivable with any payment disputes and resolutions.

  • Assist the Chief Operating Officer and/or Director of Operations in evaluating and developing efficiencies in the cost estimating process.
