SIMEDHealth is currently seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist for our Pulmonology Department in our Gainesville, FL office. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering pulmonary function testing and providing other respiratory-related care and treatment as prescribed by licensed physician. This position interacts regularly with physically challenged patients and their families in the performance of conducting tests and educating them about medicines/treatment.
Qualified candidates will possess the following minimally:
- High school diploma or equivalency REQUIRED
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CPT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Or Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software experience PREFERRED
- 1-2 years previous medical office experience PREFERRED
- Knowledge in Durable Medical Equipment
- Proficient in utilizing a computer, internet and word processing programs REQUIRED
The following is a basic list of duties and functions which may be required of you in your position.
- The following are duties which may be required of you as a Pulmonary Therapist/Tech. Duties are assigned based on the clinic need and not all may be applicable.
- Administers pulmonary function testing, including spirometry, flow volume loops with and without bronchodilator.
- Administers six minute walk test, Oximetry pulse studies, 02 therapy, and Nebulizer treatment.
- Explains technique for inhaler usage to physicians.
- Reviews pulmonary function studies with Respiratory Therapist and physicians.
- Educates patients regarding pulmonary medications and use of oxygen.
- Maintains pulmonary function equipment and associated supplies.
- Completes reports for pulmonary function tests and distributes to ordering physicians.
- Must have knowledge with Durable Medical Equipment, CPAP, Bipap, ventilators.
- Knowledge with documentation for certificate of medical necessity (CMN) understanding the paperwork for medical equipment.
