OPEN POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) is currently seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position described below. POSITION TITLE:          EMERGENCY VEHICLE ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN

 

HOURS:                                Full time, normal day time hours, but subject to being called out and required to work overtime when necessary. 

 

SALARY:                             Salary: $17.4332 per hour. Educational incentive pay: $996 for Associates Degree, $2,004 for Bachelor's Degree and $2,496                                            for Master’s Degree.  Bi-weekly pay period.

DESCRIPTION:                 Skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of law enforcement vehicle equipment including camera systems,                                            light bars, sirens, mobile radios, computer docking stations, printers and all other types of emergency equipment, as well as                                            perform vehicle maintenance and minor vehicle repairs.

 

Work is performed under the supervision of the Fleet Manager.  Performance is evaluated through observation, results obtained, oral/written reports and employee performance appraisals.

                                                 

REQUIREMENTS:           To submit an application:

  • High school diploma/GED

  • Basic computer skills

  • Proficient in the use of all tools required to perform the duties outlined for the position

  • Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and electronics

  • Any combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Current valid Florida driver’s license


 

WORK CONDITIONS:        Speak, read, write, and understand English fluently. Ambulate independently. Manual dexterity. Driving a vehicle. Both                                               indoor and open shop environments.  Exposure to possible electrical hazards. Normal daytime hours, but subject to being                                               called out, and may be required to work overtime when necessary.  Requires stooping, bending and stretching when                                               installing equipment. Routine lifting/carrying of objects up to seventy five (75) pounds.
